This is the picture "Selasphorus platycercus"
of the nesting hummingbird ....... I was looking for some action shot of kingfisher , when I was standing on the bridge over the river I spotted the nervously flying hummingbird (male) and after couple of minutes I found the female sitting on the nest. The nest was built over the river on the branch wide as a pretty skinny forearm, diameter of the nest could be around 2 inches, the nest was sitting on very wildly grown tree hanging over the river, I could photograph them just thru the narrow gap (on not windy day..) between the leaves, the closest distance between my lens and the nest was probably 12-15 feet and 15 feet over the water, which means no good use for any multiple flashes at all !
