An excerpt from my blog article "The Hidden Landscape" about this photo.

"This was one of the few instances where I came up with a concept in advance of the actual capture. During a shoot on the shores of Lake Wakatipu at last year’s New Zealand workshop, I positioned myself behind some rocks so that my participants could photograph the mountains without my getting in the way. There were some interesting patterns in the rocks and watching the water flow over them got me thinking. I experimented with some slow shuttered water but realized that the light was too dull for the concept to work. The next morning, I waited for the first rays on sunrise to hit the rocks. The contrast between the warmly illuminated and cool tones of water worked a treat."
