This is the first falls you will encounter as you arrive into Yosemite from the West entrance. The problem here is what you came to see in Yosemite lies several miles ahead but this creek will knock your socks off and you could easily spend half day here with the right light. Water is literally coming from every direction! This creek is usually dry until early spring, but because they had so much snow melting by February, it was flowing beautifully. Two days later, I was greeted with this winter wonderland of 3-4 foot of fresh snow in Yosemite!
If you look at the mountainside across the valley, you can see there is a sheer drop-off of hundreds of feet. This Cascade Creek will take a tumble like that on the opposite side so you don't want to have an accidental slip here.
