50,000 people in India reportedly die every year due to snake bites (Russell viper and Indian cobra). But as a result, every snake seen by Indians instills fear and the first reaction of spotting any snake is to smash its head and kill it.
Here is one such victim of fear -Dhaman or Ptyas mucosus, which, unfortunately is a non venomous rat snake found commonly in India.
