Posting Hommage à Weston last week got me thinking about how, apart from peppers as a subject and monochrome, that shot had in fact little in common with Weston's fabled N°30. I started looking around for vegetables that would not be peppers but would give me the same kind of textural feel when shot in black & white on a black background. There are three different colocynths that had interesting shapes and textures.

In the process of doing this I discovered how complicated it is to have a well lit subject on a dark background, and I also dicovered how the differently light catches various textures. An interesting experiment from my point of view!
