This photo is from an ongoing series that studies the intricate detail and artistry in glacial ice. Maybe more than the rest of the series, this image is primarily about the detail within an almost chaotic structure. The panoramic format is a result of stitching multiple files for increased resolution in the final file.
The ice seen here is perhaps 15' or so across. it is a portion of a much larger wall of ice on the back of a football field sized iceberg trapped in the frozen Mendenhall Lake a few winters ago.
