This angry snarl is aimed thankfully not at myself but rather at the sub-adult youngster this female leopard had at the time.
She had made a kill and fetched the youngster to feed, however instinct took over and she continuously snarled and growled at the youngster as it approached the kill. It was time for the youngster to move on.

If you look carefully you will see that her right eye (the eye in the pic) is completely blind. She had lost the eye at a very early age of around 5-6 yrs and carried on very successfully until she died earlier this year at almost 20yrs old.
VERY old for a wild leopard with lots of competition in the area. She was a fantastic leopard that we named Safari and I really enjoyed working with her. In my years photographing leopards I have most certainly captured my best leopard behavioural images of her... I'll miss her dearly...
