The late afternoon sun highlights the beauty of a rock born Jeffery Pine atop Sentinel Dome in Yosemite National Park . For those that have not been to this location, it is a reasonable hike and climb to the top of the dome and you are blessed with an incredible vantage point.
Sentinel Dome is known for a Jeffrey Pine that grew from its peak. The pine was photographed as early as 1867 by Carleton Watkins, and was the subject of a well-known photograph by Ansel Adams. The tree died during the drought of 1976, but remained standing until August 2003.
