This is the toughest location to photography. About 1/2 hour after sunrise in the fall the light gets hot almost immediately, unless there are some nice light diffusing clouds. It takes a couple hours to get to this location (if you're old and fat) and you can't really leave earlier than 8AM or you won't get fed breakfast at the lodge and then won't eat until dinner.
If I were going to visit this location again, I'd camp and handle my own meals, so that I could hike in the dark to get there by sun up.
This shot was taken from the Niblet. Unfortunately the larches had not quite turned. The trail up and down through the lakes was about 7 miles.
