Erected on the site of the white stone walls Dmitry Donskoy in the years 1485-1516 by the Italian ("fryazhskie") architects. The total length of the walls - 2235 m, height of 5 to 19 m, thickness - from 3.5 to 6.5 m. For the construction of walls and towers used large (30h14h17 cm or 31h15h9 cm) brick weighing up to 8 kg. Along the walls has 20 towers.
