I took this shot a couple of years ago during a very short and spontaneous trip to Mt. Rainier. All I brought was a duffel bag with a few clothes, my camera bag and a sense of adventure. I figured I would rent a car and drive to Mt. Rainier and just pick up a sleeping bag or some blankets on the way. Well long story short I didn't end up picking up either and slept in the rental car front seat with nothing more than a sweatshirt....I froze my butt off!! Ended up being up every hour or so to start the car to get the heater going....long, long night! but nonetheless an adventure :) My gameplan was to try and catch a nice sunrise shot with Mt. Rainier reflecting in lake Tipsoo, didn't quite work out as planned. When my alarm went off, I looked out and couldn't hardly see anything thinking that maybe I set the alarm too early. I soon realized, my alarm was right, it was so dark due to the thick!, thick! fog. I was so bummed, I had my heart set on that glorious reflection shot but after a few minutes I started noticing how beautifully moody everything looked. After walking around for a little bit, scoping the scene I happened to notice the glow of the sun coming through the fog...truly magical...I set up in the location you see and the rest is history. Moral of the story...go with the flow, be open to opportunity...make lemonade! the end :)
