Not too long ago I did a series on special places, mentioning that a person’s hometown is a special place for most, whether it’s good or bad special. I was debating on continuing my fall series when via twitter, and due to photos I posted on 500px of my hometown, one of my earliest childhood friends contacted me. Decades have passed since the last time we saw each other. I was very surprised and took it as a sign. I’m posting fall images from my hometown of Bristol, RI. Two birds kind of thing.

Again, I am showing the Mill Gut, but this time from the opposite side, standing on the stone bridge I mentioned in the previous image. The spot I created the Mill Gut image from would be to the left of the distance shore. If you have never been around a tidal inlet, tidal pools, or an estuary, they are wonderfully intimate places with a great variety of life. In and around this blue water, memories are made, both between the people that share an experience and those that are traveling alone.

Here we can also see what happens when a private space is made public. I am happy to say that only certain areas were opened up to accommodate larger amounts of people that come to a state park. When I was a child, it was a different place, it was mine! I wish. I will show another of the preserved areas in the next image.
