Pico do Areeiro is a peak located on the island of Madeira. With 1818 meters of altitude is the third highest peak on the island, after the Pico Ruivo (1861 m) and Pico das Torres (1851 m).
The peak belongs to the municipality of Funchal and is accessible by car. At its top is a hostel, a cafe and a shop selling souvenirs, as well as a lookout. From the Peak Arieiro part a pedestrian path that communicates with the Pico Ruivo. The journey takes three hours to do, and goes through several tunnels dug in the mountains, it is advisable to use flashlights and appropriate clothing to those wishing to carry it out.
Pico Arieiro sight to other locations on the island, as the Ponta de São Lourenço, the Curral das Freiras and even the island of Porto Santo (if weather conditions are favorable). During the winter peak and the surrounding areas may find themselves covered with snow and is therefore subject to visits by the inhabitants of the island.
