For pretty much all landscape photographers the Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye is an instantly recognisable and iconic UK landscape. For many non-photographers living in the UK I think its far lesser known. But boy what a place!! I honestly think the scenery here is right up there with anything I’ve ever witnessed. It absolutely takes your breath away from the moment you arrive below the pinnacles to the moment you leave.

I have been desperate to revisit the Old Man of Storr since my last and only trip, way back in 2005. I was really happy with the photographs I captured back then, but shooting with an 8mp camera the images sadly didn’t stand the test of time and are now buried deep on the hard drive. On last week’s trip I knew I would be able to capture the Old Man in much better quality with the D800E’s 36mp sensor, but I also knew the chances of capturing as good quality of light were very low. Fortunately I was wrong, the light was even better!!
