During my time in the Columbia Gorge this fall a pineapple express hit the northwest and a lot of rain fell in a very short time causing the creeks and rivers to swell. The water above the Oneonta logjam was over 10 feet deep as the water had been running so hard that it just pooled above the logjam instead of flowing beneath it. Luckily I was with Marc Adamus and even luckier he had a small one person inflatable kayak. So we found some rope and carried the kayak over the logjam. Marc tied one end of the rope to the kayak and I took the other. He then paddled across the deep pool until he could touch bottom, mind you it was still waist deep, then I pulled the kayak back with the rope and paddled up the canyon. Paddling up the canyon in the pouring rain looking up at the streams of water cascading down the sides was seriously magical. And so we made are way up and down the canyon paddling where it got to deep and wading through the current where we could. When we got to the last deep stretch below the falls though the water was too fast so we were not able to photograph the falls themsleves. Sitill it was an amzing albeit wet experience. Thanks for stopping by.

By the way it really pays to view this one on black!
