Today we are off to a family wedding of a lovely couple, one of cypriot origin and the bride, chinese. The main discussion has been about the food we will have at the reception lol! It is our good fortune to have both greek and chinese - can hardly wait. I wanted to upload this bird today as it does remind me of chinese silk! This is A vietnamese Pheasant, a captive one, which has alluded me on every visit! He loves to walk and stay under bushes! However, I have returned many times in order to get just one clear shot of that plumage - like silk!!! I have done the usual spin on it in PS as the conditions were dark!
Here is the usual story from Birdlife international :
This pheasant has a very small and severely fragmented range and population, which are continuing to decline owing to destruction of its specialised lowland forest habitat and high levels of hunting. These factors currently combine to qualify it as Endangered. If habitat loss and hunting continue, it may require uplisting to Critically Endangered in the very near future.
