Dortmund's ost Cemetery (also called East Cemetery) is a 1876 founded cemetery in the Dortmund District.
Many famous citizens of the city are buried in the inner city, about 16 acres of East Cemetery at the Robert-Koch-Str. Beautiful ancient tombs with elaborate grave painting testify to wealthy families, who have found their final resting place. Numerous grave sculptures come from the Jewish sculptor Benno Elkan. The historic section of the cemetery with trees and routing, the fencing, gate, fountain, the funeral hall, a public toilet, the manager buildings and 362 single grave monuments are registered as a historic landmark in the list of monuments of the city of Dortmund.
The East Cemetery is now part of the Route of Industrial Heritage.
