This vintage Corsair FG-1D World War II fighter is on display at the Military Aviation Museum - Virginia Beach, Virginia. Originally designed by Vought Air, this particular plane was built by Goodyear. It is powered by a Pratt & Whitney R2800 rotary engine producing 2,000 horsepower. The Corsair could fly at sustained speeds over 400 MPH and had a maximum ceiling of over 35,000 feet.
This image of the Corsair, with folded wings, is a HDR image created from three separate photos spanning +/- 2 f-stops of exposure. Photomatix Pro was used for HDR processing with additional toning accomplished with Nik Software's Color Efex Pro. I am very pleased with the detail of the engine on this magnificent aircraft.
