Well, from what I can remember from my childhood, ferry-women today don't have much change... Day by day, they carry passengers from this side of the river to another side and back.
The only different now is that they have an engine on their boat which speed up the travel time and less hard work for them.
In the photo, she just landed a passenger to Ninh Kiều harbor and she's coming back to the other side...
