Starry Night sky over Balanced Rock in Arches National Park. As tall as 23 men, or a 13-story building -- the total height of Balanced Rock is about 128 feet (39 m), with the balancing rock rising 55 feet (16.75 m) above the base. The big rock on top is the size of three school buses. This sandstone formation has been light painted from a distance of about 250 feet (76 m) by a diffused, quartz halogen light (from camera left). Photographed about three hours after sunset. Note the constellations of Taurus and Pleiades.
Virtually all my NightScapes are ONE exposure (less than 30 seconds), and with very little Photoshop correction. Watch the NightScape VIDEO -- with one Milky Way after another!
