Another one from my shore-bird outing... These little hyper "buggers" , are a real test to photograph, and bag in flight! It's always, fun, yet a serious challenge ! Toughest part, is trying to expose correctly for the whites, details.I find, manual mode to be a photographer best friend in this setting. If you are still on the fence, give this a try.. first off imagine, r project where your subject is going to be, fire off a test shot or two, too Achieve
a satisfactory histogram, or image that suites the correct exposure.. Remember that manual affords ya a bit of a window /margin either side of the needed exposure, once it;s set, provided, you have a reason stable lighting scenario. Bear in mind, that white subjects, vs black will require you to roll ip or down your exposure comp for the selected subjects. Perhaps Av mode is better suited for constantly changing light. Many a photographer has been caught before with a correct exposure, however the speed dropped within av mode, rendering a less than sharp image due to motion.. in manual, it's fixed at what ever you set it, and that's constant, vs AV mode. Ok, hope that helps those out there still on the fence, and biting their nails, when it comes to manual. Remember, MANUAL can, and is your BEST most cases. I'm off to Colorado, too meet my good friend Verdon, and photograph for a long weekend. Big Horn Sheep! They are in full rut, at RMNP, and surrounding areas, which are just full of photo opps!! C ya next week...
