This white backed vulture was perched in a tree near the fourteenth borehole in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa. There were several other vultures in the area, but no obvious signs of an animal carcass. This vulture was quite intrigued with me and my camera lens, continuously staring straight at me and leaning its head forward for a closer look. Perhaps I was to be the next carcass?
