A sea kayaker waits for his next ride at Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur. I went up to Pfeiffer this past Saturday hoping to catch the sun set through the keyhole--I saw this during Winter Solstice last year but don't think I captured it very well. This time around I felt I was much more prepared to get the shot in a single exposure. However by 3:00 we were rained out. Not to worry--Pfeiffer is almost even cooler in the rain as the crowds leave and one's left in solitude.
Before the rain really started coming down we were able to grab some shots of sea kayakers--I've never seen a kayak so close to the keyhole and really wanted to get an image of him facing the door while a wave crashed through. Usually it's really tough to tell in pictures how large the rock actually is--I feel the kayaker helps give that sense of scale.
