Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of the Sultanate of Brunei. I read that when the mosque was first built in the late 50s, the central dome shed flakes of gold-leaf due to expansion and contraction. According to Anthony Burgess, the falling gold was “taken by the fisherfolk to be a gift from Allah”.
