Happy new year!
the gilding Sun, a fragrant ripeness
permeates the air, sweet and strong
like overbaked apples,
and the Wind
blows...through the thistle and the
thorn, the milkweed bends under the
Wind's fading force, fermenting on
the fallowed ground like last year's
ale,
burnt and restless, the leaves
crumble and fall, like bread just
done the leaves crumble onto the
ground, lying in a crackle of colour
soon to fade away with the simplicity
of the season,
they will be remembered
by the parent trees who once held
their brief prime in their arms-
until their cooking time was done
and onto the ground's abundant platter
they must lie, this meal of thanksgiving.
