A fairly unusual atmospheric occurrence here resulted in a more mysterious-looking photograph than I had thought. As I was photographing the Aurora over the impressive peaks of Yukon's Far North one early-Winter evening, I noticed clouds rolling in. At first when I looked at the LCD (you can't really SEE much in these moonless conditions) I thought I was getting frozen fog on my lens and kept trying to wipe it off. It wasn't until closer inspection that I realized I was capturing low clouds and mist draped over the peaks. In the complete darkness, the Aurora was the only faint light I saw. The camera, however, revealed much more of the scene and the towering cliff faces I saw only a hint of came to life under a surreal glow.
The image was captured at 6400 ISO with great sharpness using a D800E and DOF blending techniques.
