After waiting in my tent for at least three feet of snow to fall over the course of four days in the Ogilvie Mountains in Canada's Far North I was finally able to spend more time out when clearing weather followed an Arctic cold front through. This made for great shooting conditions but frigid temperatures, which were in the -20'sF when I photographed this scene. Combined with the strong winds at the time and associated wind chill factor, this was about as cold a photograph as I've ever taken. I was out on a frozen lake that sees such high winds normally all the snow is always swept off of it. I used those winds to my advantage here, spending a good deal of time trying to capture the streaking snow across the frozen bubble formations under the peaks. I made a couple hundred exposures over a little more than an hour and then started hiking into the range to warm up! I was very tired of spending time in my tent at that point.
