OK, so I have somewhat mixed feelings about being there to take this, let alone taking it & posting it here on flickr. I am aware of the fact that Dolphins live longer in the wild than at these marine parks. In mitigation all I can say is that the five Bottle Nosed Dolphins I saw here all seemed to be genuinely enjoying the interaction with both their trainers (one of whom yo can see here) & the audience too. There was a genuine warmth too in the interactions I witnessed between the three trainers & the dolphins too. Indeed, if I'm honest, I felt envious of them (the trainers). They truly are magnificent, beautiful, & obviously highly intelligent creatures. Beings actually. Creatures does not seem appropriate. I read somewhere once that a Dolphin is as intelligent as a six year old human child. I am the parent of one of those at the moment, so that fact resonates even more amazingly with me. This was the absolute highlight of my six year old daughters entire holiday in Portugal. To see the expression on her face as she was captivated totally by them was alone worth the price of admission, & a partially effective balm to my conscience!
