Grand Central Terminal is such a wonderful architectural subject and another New York mainstay...and to think they almost tore it down! Many interior shots I've seen of of the building are of the Main concourse and with good reason...its trademark ceiling and four-faced clock and massive space with lovely light makes it a wonder to see--I never tire of it! However, the terminal has so many great spaces, I decided to focus on a different one for this one. This shot is of the hall right outside of the main concourse (which is to the right, over the wall). Down the ramp and to the right is the dining concourse which resides under the main concourse and is one of my favorite places for a work-day lunch (who wouldn't love eating in this setting!?!). This hallway is a wonder to walk through--I especially love the massive globe-like chandeliers and the soft light they produce. I had to get here pretty early on a weekend for it to be this empty! I had a couple shots of this vantage point, but chose the one with a lone figure walking to give a bit more perspective and because his silhouette happened to be nicely centered in the shot.
Thanks for the visit today!
