These ribbons signify the bond between my wife Tiffany and I. They were used at our wedding ceremony to literally "bind us together" each colour represents a challenge or facet of married life. As long as the physical bond (knot) in these ribbons stays strong, our marriage will to (so legend has it).

We were hand in hand with the ribbons draped over us and at each 'event' we would tie a knot in one joined fluid motion. I don't recall exactly how we did it, but I do remember practising it ALOT and it looking very cool and natural when we had it down pat.

Great day (great photographer!) and something different and unique for us and our guests.

Wedding ceremony and vows below for anyone interested (1998 seems a LONG time ago...15 year anniversary in 2013). Knot still tight...ribbons a bit dusty - seems somehow spot on

Ceremony begins:

Bride: I am
CELEBRANT: What is your desire?

Couple: We will

CELEBRANT: Will you seek never to give cause to break that honour?
Couple: We shall never do so.
CELEBRANT: And so the binding is made.
(Purple cord is draped across couples joined hands)

CELEBRANT: The knots of this binding merely represent your union. Either of you may drop the cords, for as always, you hold in your own hands the making or breaking of this union.

(The cords are knotted in the centre, Tiffany and Ashley then hold the knotted ribbons aloft for guests to see. Ribbon is put aside for ring giving.)

CELEBRANT: Place the ring on Tiffany’s finger and repeat after me. “With this ring I thee wed. Wear it as a token of my love”
Groom: repeats above

CELEBRANT: Place the ring on Ashley’s finger and repeat after me. “With this ring I thee wed. Wear it as a token of my love”
Bride: repeats above

CELEBRANT: Ashley and Tiffany by the power vested in me, I have much pleasure in declaring you husband and wife.

Happy 15 years Pie.
