New Faerieland Imagery!
And so, the story continues...
About this image & character:
I wanted to begin presenting the darker aspect of faerieland... and also challenge the idea of what we can find beautiful in art by playing w/ making something 'ugly'
The idea for this character was that by some run of bad luck (or perhaps by practicing a bit of dark magic herself) this woman is cursed, leaving one side of her as beautiful as she once was, as youthful, while the other side has a darker fate.
It's been a fun practice to put my left hand over the image, the left side of the image (as you face it) and seeing the almost flawless expression & then, in contrast, putting my right hand over the right side of this image (as you face it/your right hand) to see the darker part of this storyboard come out.
Faerieland is about that sort of ongoing balance of darkness & light.
This is a recurring character & the first 'witch' so to speak of this series of at least two I have slated. I have to admit this was a really fun character to edit.
I hope you enjoy & it's nice to be back to shooting.
PS: My new website will be up this week *knock on wood* in which Faerieland becomes an experiential experience. Really thrilled to have it so close to being able to share & in better resolution.
And two more images/new characters from this storyboard coming within the week :)
This series in its current entirety, while the site is going through the switch, can be viewed, here on my facebook fan:
