Well, the snow that has blanketed much of southern England for the past week is starting to thaw, no doubt to be replaced by plain boring rain. This, I hasten to add, is not the view outside our front door, it only takes a few centimetres of snow to cause chaos around here, I hate to think what this much would do. Abstracted landscape images have always fascinated me, it's amazing the pattern and contrasts that occur in nature and isolating them is a wonderful way to highlight them. In this case the thawing snow and ice was producing some wonderful sculpted surfaces accented by the gradual concentration of dirt and red algae blooms on the surface.
