Love this Steven. It always amazes me how these huge birds balance in trees on those spikey little legs. They must have tremendous strength in their toes . . . or is it talons? They do the same thing here in the summer, when we see lots of them.

I really like this shot. You have caught the bird at just the right moment and with just the right shutter speed to keep detail in the feathers of the wings. I don't know how you trained the bird to land on such a perfectly suited branch. Excellent composition. Excellent work.

Thanks. That branch overlooks a local pond so it's a favorite lookout for a lot of water birds. Egrets go up there fairly often, Kingfishers land there sometimes (though not often enough), and occasionally an Osprey will sit there (though they always bail the second they see me). Unfortunately it's pretty far from anywhere to stand, so while big birds are nice for photos, smaller birds are specks.
