One of the most challenging aspects of leading workshops is resisting the urge to take photographs myself. I try to keep away from my camera as much as possible so I am always on-hand to provide advice. As a result I only have a few pictures from the Iceland trip, and this is probably my favourite.

For many years I have longed to visit this beautiful black beach covered in gorgeous clear ice. It is a popular subject for photographers these days and for very good reason; I couldn't think of any better foreground to place in a picture than a glistening chunk of ice.

Although temptation surged inside me I only allowed myself a few minutes to indulge my desire to shoot the beach before resuming my tutor role. Tearing myself away from this scene was one of the hardest photographic decisions I have ever had to make, but fortunately I have a picture or two to cherish until I am able to return.
