This building was originally used to house smaller animals, such as sheep and pigs. Horses and cattle would have been kept primarily in the large series of corrals out in the yard. Although other parts of the Stockyard complex have been used until fairly recently—5 years for the corrals and auction barn and earlier this year for the office buildings. This building has been unused for a long time and is almost a complete wreck. I have mixed emotions about them tearing down this complex. It is on one hand a place where my dad and great grandfather visited often, it is also someplace that my brother, who is a large animal vet, worked occasionally until it closed. Tearing down buildings and ruins makes me quite sad. On the other hand, a building like this could never be made safe, so I understand its demolition.
