The sign used to advertise White Stag, an apparel manufacturer that owned the building that it tops. Turns out, the sign was built by Ramsay Signs in 1940–41 and in its first incarnation it read “"White Satin Sugar” inside an outline of the state of Oregon, advertising a brand of sugar. In 1950, the sign was animated to show the state filling with sugar. It changed to White Stag in 1959. It said “Made in Oregon” from 1997-2010. Then in November of 2010 it changed to the current “Portland Oregon” lettering.
All that inspired me to take a photo of the sign but process it in a unique way that I had not seen it. I hope you like it.
