Wanted to do something new -for me, at least-, play at my little home-studio. I saw so many nice still life photos that I decided to give it a try. It wasn't as fun as I thought... So I have a nice cup, a nice bg, some grapes but I wasn't going to use my good wine -it's expensive, you know- therefore I made a little trip to the supermarket to find the cheapest wine available. The clerk look at the bootle, looked at me and gave me this smirk... and then I got it, there I was at 2pm, buying this cheap wine, the kind winos and hobos buys almost looking like one (I don't dress up to go to the supermarket!). I was about to say "it's ok, I'm a photographer" but just took my wine and left. I arrangend the grapes, the bg, the cup (and the wine) by a window, the light was beautiful but... reflections were worst than I expected. I used a polarized filter, change the direction of the table, add lights, remove lights... It was so frustrating. You might thing that "then the wine came in handy", no it didn't as it tasted like a mix of kerosene and grape juice! Finally I closed the windows and tried a different, more minimal, approach. Put the glass in a sort of box and light the wall behind it with a snoot. The result got close to what I wanted to do and kind of happy with it considering it was the first time. What do you think?
