Peneleh Cemetery is one of the oldest modern cemeteries in the world. This tombs was built in 1814, with official name De Begraafplaats Peneleh Soerabaja alias Surabaya Peneleh Cemetery.
Compared with other ancient modern tomb in other countries, Peneleh Cemetery is the oldest one. Older than Fort Cannin Park di Singapura (1926), Gore Hill Cemetery di Sidney (1868), Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge (1831) which claimed as the first modern tomb in the world, or Arlington National Cemetery ini Washington DC (1864).

Peneleh Cemetery was closed in 1955, but people still allowed to visit their ancestors, or even taking pictures there. It is a one good spot that often chosen for photo hunting because there are many ornaments of thomb like gothic and doric, roman sculptures, and others.
