I was lucky enough to spend 10 days at Petra in 2011. With all the political issues concerning Syria and Egypt it was a quiet time at this World Heritage Centre. Every few days the local Bedouin put on a light show in front of the Treasury, the most famous rock cut ruin of Petra. Once the candles are all lit there is only a few moments before the tourists arrive so I had to be prepared for this shot.
Once the tourists arrive the Bedouin tell stories and play traditional music, for me being up here all alone was a special moment. It was too dark for me to return from this vantage point so I stayed up here all night listening to the sounds of the Bedouin celebrating a wedding.
