The Ansel Adams Wilderness sits wedged between three vast land tracks: Yosemite National Park, Inyo National Forest and the Sierra National Forest. Named after the famed photographer, you couldn't ask for a more appropriate setting in which to put your photography skills to the test.

I took this photo while camping at Thousand Island Lake, one many beautiful glacier lakes dotting the Ansel Adams Wilderness. The rugged mountain rising above the lake is Banner Peak, which tops out at 12,936 feet. In another photo, I captured the first light of the dawn hitting the top of Banner Peak, my fingers freezing as I waited for the right moment. Good memories!

I've taken many photos since I've travel here, but this area remains one of the most stunning natural settings I've had the privilege of seeing with my own eyes; it was truly unforgettable.

"Hats off" to my best friend who suggested and planned our pilgrimage there. If you ever have the chance, GO!
