At 10,300 feet, Squaw lake is located just below 10,900 foot Silver Pass, one of the eight major passes along the John Muir Trail.

There isn't a lot of life growing at this altitude leaving the area reminiscent of a watery moonscape. Flora or not, I found this rocky desolation to be extremely beautiful.

Not long after taking this photo, the clouds you see produced a loud, and somewhat frightening thunderstorm. No places to hide up here!
