The Balsamroot flowers on Steptoe Butte were in full bloom, overlooking rolling farmlands with wheat fields as far as the eye could see. I decided to play around with my new fish eye lens for some dramatic perspectives.

The flowers may look inviting, but it turns out this whole region is full of ticks, so I was really nervous getting so close to the leaves for the wide angle close-ups. It must be done though for the flowers to fill the foreground - so I risked it for art. :p I think I managed to avoid picking up any stowaways ... but at least two made it back to our car over the course of the trip. Yikes! Safe to view through a photograph though ;)
