St Patrick's Cathedral was the magnificent work of New York born architect James Renwick, Jr. Construction started in 1858 and after an hiatus during the Civil War, it was finally finished in 1878. At the time its wonderful spires soared above the less populous midtown Manhattan. Even today, in an area surrounded by towering glass structures, the cathedral still stands out from the crowd!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!
