Brandenburger Tor (1791), Pariser Platz, Berlin

The Brandenburg Gate is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. The gate is the monumental entry to Unter den Linden, the renowned boulevard of linden trees which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs.
After Prussia lost the war against France in 1806, Napoleon took the Quadriga to Paris. It was returned to Berlin after Prussia occupied Paris in 1814.
