A stream of fresh mountain spring water meanders through a sunlit valley in the foothills of vast basalt and sandstone cliffs, Giant’s castle nature reserve, uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, South Africa
I took this image during the rainy season and persistence paid off. In spite of the frequent rains, every now and then beautiful light would occur, and I was glad to be able to capture this particular instance.
This area is a juxtaposition of gigantic cliffs, deep valleys, intervening spurs and extensive plateau areas. The vantage points thus can be quite awkward and it is difficult to frame points of interest adequately. To highlight the beautiful light painting the lush greens of this river valley, I used a zoom lens with some additional cropping in postprocessing.
