A bit of a different layout here. I couldn't seem to get away from going really tall on this one, the straight up milky way, and the composition of the dunes just begged for it. Cropping it down to a more conventional size just didn't seem to work. This would look great as a print I think.
These are the Ibex dunes, sand dunes I'm guessing not many people go to because they are a bit remote. When I came here, it was on my last day of a week long trip in the area, and we had zero cloud cover, so what to do? Night shot! Not much to explain here except that it's two shots. The sand dunes were shot just past sunset for a nice soft even light, and then the sky was shot about 2 hours later. Light pollution out here was pretty minimal, which made for a really clear sky. I borrowed my friends 14-24 to shoot the stars, and man does it beat the pants off my 17-35... that extra 3 mm really gets those stars to be little pin pricks, and super sharp.
