THE EX-MENTAL HOSPITAL OF VOLTERRA, ITALY
Until the end of 1970 if you were sent to Volterra it usually meant that you were going to the Ferri Mental Hospital, where up to 6000 people were kept at the same time, a living hell with only 20 sinks and 2 toilets every 200 patients.
Oreste Ferdinando Nannetti came from Rome and ended up at the hospital during the fascist era, at times when special trains were created to get rid of unwanted people. His desire to express himself could not be suppressed even by 30 years of electric shock treatment and other dubious treatments.
