He's integrated with a flock of Mallards, and spent yesterday courting a Mallard female. (Any port in a storm, I suppose).
He and this Mallard drake took a break from all the romance to cuddle together on the ice and soak up some warmth from the sun.
Just before I took this picture, an enormous Mute Swan took over the ice breaking duties, and smashed a fifty-foot path through the ice, from the bay to the shore.
As soon as he did this, all the other swans and ducks used the channel to move around.
