Another cloudless sunrise so the key was to catch the warm first light on the foreground. This very well known location with the little tree is surprisingly close to the road, and for a first shoot here it was the obvious place to start, I look forward to returning and trying some other spots further along the path to the Quiraing itself.

I particularly liked the light in the gully below the tree, so I tried a few portrait shots like this, as well as the more usual wider landscape view, which I'll put up in due course. Despite being cloudless the sky was beautiful, with a lovely smooth gradation from blue in the south to yellow / gold towards the east.

This is actually looking away from the Quiraing, towards the hills of Cleat and Beinn Edra, to the south along the Trotternish ridge.
