Living on East Coast, I wanted to experience Toroweap to the fullest and chose to spend the night on the nearby campsite in order to see the sunrise.
We got there close to 6 PM and sun was rapidly setting down. I could not waste any minute and jumping from rock to rock was trying to find the spot that I liked, almost falling off the cliff in the process. For just a few minutes, after the sun disappeared below horizon line, the canyon lit up with this magnificent glow. It was most intense and beautiful moment I have ever experienced with nature - I never felt so alive, yet so small and human.
